Dustin and Cassie posted some pictures from our visit to Jackson Hole, Wyoming last weekend and wanted us to blog some from our camera....You can reach their blog from ours on the right.
We had made trips to Rexburg, Idaho MANY times but never took the time to venture into "wild west" territory known as Jackson Hole. The view entering the "hole" was so breathtaking. It was a beautiful sunny day about 78 degrees and perfect for enjoying nature and what she has to offer us.
Jackson Hole pays tribute to the moose, elk, buffalo, big foot, bears, and horses with statues of them everywhere....in the streets, parks, stores, and resturants. We loved having our pictures taken with them all....well, maybe the buffalo freaked us out a little because it was his real skin!
The dinner at BAR J was truly an event! After entering the grounds you could walk around the grounds and look at the waterfalls with bears climbing on top, a moose standing in the marsh, a small train that took you on a tour of the grounds, a "hot biscut and honey stand" you could enjoy, gift shops (always one of my favorites), watch the steaks grilling on a huge outside grill, sit on the iron swings (picture of me on one), or look at cowboy/western memorbilia on the walls of the dinner shed.
The show was the BEST. The music brought back memories of TV shows like "Roy Rogers and Dale Evans", "The Cartwrights: Little Joe, Has (can't remember name of show), "Gene Autrey" and all the Saturday afternoon cowboy shows, Jack and I watched as kids. The patriotic song at the end touched all our hearts. Thanks Dustin/Cassie for a great birthday surprise western style!!!
