ARBOBLAST 2009.....PERRYGIN LAKE, WINTROP

Now, understand, we usually plan our outings in Eastern Washington because we can count on the sun to swim, play and hold our events. Well, unfortunately, Winthrop was having unusually heavy rainfall for the month of July BUT still ninety degrees out!


Most of us arrived Thursday afternoon. The campsites were grassy and beautiful. We were only a short distance from the lake and restrooms/shower, which is a BIG deal. The lake was calm and inviting. The weather warm and clear.


We all proceeded to set up camp. Paul set up house! Matt is our Dutch oven cook master and Paul is our camp design master! Each family was responsible for a dinner, breakfast, devotional and talent for the skit night. All were ready so no one had to really spend a lot of time preparing anything there.


Most of the time we were at the lake, we had it to ourselves. The kids love to be in the water because most of the adults are so fun to be with. They throw them in the air, push them on the rafts and water toys, help them swim and let them jump from the dock into safe arms. I love to watch them playing altogether, laughing, screaming and having fun.


Some of the events we had were paddle boat races, miniature golf tournament, kids camptime (different ones in charge of activities for the kids for an hour a day), pie eating contest, devotionals, and skit night/awards ceremony. The skits ranged from singing cowboy tunes, jokes, skits and "oh, yes, we had to do HERMAN, WAS MY PET LION"! There were NO bonfires this year because they weren't allowed!BooHoo


The weather was a little unpredictable to say the least so we spent some time in our tents playing cards, games, talking, laughing, napping and WET! One afternoon it was so beautiful everyone was down at the beach....soon the heavens opened and POURED water. Everyone else on the beach scrambled but the Arbogasts...they stayed, with the beach all to themselves!


It was a wonderful weekend in spite of the occasional downpour! It's the company that makes it a success....not the weather!


Saturday grandpa joined us and we were able to take some four generation pictures between rainfalls....grandpa finally had to head home to Wenatchee to get out of the rain.
