Jack and I had always wanted to experience the Hill Cumorah Pageant in Palmyria, New York. It is only a week long at the end of July every year and it just hadn't worked out for us. Well, we decided "this was going to be the year". So after going through Amish country we continued up to Palmyria which was about 4 hrs away. It was the most beautiful drive along the river. We stopped a couple of times. Once at Rita's and once at a park overlooking the river where we saw a rabbit and Jack tried to climb the rock wall! LOL We arrived safely at the hotel, checked in and went and had dinner. Friday we headed over to the Visitor's Center first and staked out our seats (yes, you could save them) in the third row front and center of the stage area. Then we left and toured the Joseph Smith farm, Sacred Grove, Palmyria Temple, and other sites. We got our dinner and returned to the pageant area. About eight the cast members started coming out in full costume to mingle with the audience members, talk about their experience and let you take pictures with them. It was really fun to hear about the testimonies that had been strengthened because of their role in the pageant. Soon it started and we were not prepared for the sights, sound, lights and awesomeness of this production. It was all we had dreamed and hoped for.
