Last night the Cook's sat down as a family for dinner. As we begin sipping our potato soup, here is how our conversation went...
Mom: "Colton what did you do today?"
Colton: "A worm attacked my face at recess."
Mom: "How did that happen?"
Colton: "Me and my new friend Caroline were putting them on the end of sticks."
Cassie: "So the worms jumped off the stick and into your face?"
Colton: (rolling his eyes) "No, it bounced into my face when it got hit with the tetherball".
Mom: (feeling queasy as she eats her soup) "A tetherball?"
Colton: (sighing, tired of having to explain the simplest things to us) "YES! We were putting the worms onto the ends of sticks and hitting the sticks with the tetherballs so the worms would smash on the tetherballs as a prank on the 1st graders. But when the tetherball hit the last worm it flew off and landed on my face, okay! I got so mad I threw the worm into the ditch water ONCE AND FOR ALL!"
At this point all our spoons come clanking down disgusted and losing our appetites. Paul tries to save the meal and says...
Paul: "Cassie, how was your day?"
Cassie: "Fine. In vet class we went to the FFA barns and took care of the pigs. They smelled really bad and are super loud."
Paul: "Were you there to muck out the stalls?"
(By now Mom has pushed her soup bowl away from her)
Cassie: "No, the FFA kids do that. We were there to learn how to take their temperatures and the teacher had forgot the string."
Denise: "What did she need string for?"
Cassie: (says slowly) "So it doesn't get lost..."
Denise: "Why would it get lost?"
Cassie: (says even slower and quieter than last time) "Because the thermometer goes in their butt and when it goes in it can get sucked all the way in so you need the string so you can pull it out. When the teacher did pull it out, she had forgot her rubber gloves and it was dripping in pig poo."
At this point Mom just started clearing the table.
Anyone want to come to dinner?
